The Union of Albany Plan was proposed as an attempt to create a more centralized system of government in the colonies to protect against threats such as from the French during the Seven Years War or French and Indian War, the name given to the colonial front at the time. This plan was an early attempt to create a united colonial body to govern the territories, however, it was not successful in establishing any kind of centralized American Colonial authority.
