Mr. Villa's class does a science experiment. His students place three vases of cut flowers in the sunlight. They pour water into the first vase of flowers. They pour soda into the second vase of flowers. They pour vinegar into the third vase of flowers. At the end of one week the students observe that the flowers in the vase of water are still alive, but the flowers in the other two vases are dead.

What can the students infer from the observations in the experiment?

Flowers need light to grow.

Vinegar makes flowers bloom.

    A. (althougth flowers do need sun) is not correct, as all the flowers were in the sun, so it doesn't explain the results.

    B. is also wrong as the "vinegar flowers" are dead.

    C. Plants to need water to survive, but more evidence is needed to know for sure (such as a vase without water - maybe they don't need water, but die in soda or vinegar?)

    D. This is true - we clearly see that the plants in water well a lot better off than those in soda or vinegar!
