Commuter Lanes are restricted traffic lanes on highways. They are often known as Carpool Lanes or High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes.
They are created to socially engineer the desired outcome of more people per car, making the roads less congested and improving the environment as a bonus outcome.
