There are many functions and purposes of law in our society.

establishing standards maintaining order resolving disputes and protecting liberties and rights.

There are four different types of laws for protection:

The laws serve as a norm of conduct for the people living in the society. The law is important because it acts as a guideline as to what is accepted in society. Without the law, there would be conflicts between social groups and communities.

Law enforcement is any system by which some members ofsociety act in an organized manner to enforce the law by discovering, deterring, rehabilitating, or punishing people who violate the rules and norms governing that society.
