    The initiative vs. guilt stage is a stage a child's true characteristics start to show. Children in this stage develop social skills by being involved and initiating interaction, making real life decisions and they start seeing the consequences of their initiatives and actions.

    According to Erikson, when the child makes a decision and there is a negative feedback towards his initiative, will feel guilty which is hoped to be transformed into remorseful feeling as he/she grows.

    Children who succeed past this stage develop the ability to always confidentiality initiate their actions and are remorseful when guilty.
