Blake is trying very hard to quit smoking but his friend javier still smokes, often while they watch sports events together on the tv. just the smell of javier's cigarette makes him crave a cigarette. what should he do? end his friendship with javier. avoid seeing javier until he quits smoking as well. avoid situations where javier will light a cigarette to avoid conditioned stimuli. try again later to quit smoking, when he and javier are no longer spending so much time together.

    I don't think he should stop seeing his friend just because he doesn't want to stop smoking - if he can ask him nicely not to smoke when they are together, then they can continue hanging out without Blake craving a cigarette himself. What he should do is create situations where he can hang out with his friend without him wanting to light a cigarette.
