Civics are the things people do affecting fellow citizens, especially when that relates to the maintenance of urban development. Civic education is the study of the theoretical, political and practical aspects of citizenship, as well as its rights and duties. It includes the study of civil law and civil code, and the study of government with attention to the role of citizens-as opposed to external factors-in the operation and oversight of government. Civic education empowers us to be well-informed, active citizens and gives us the opportunity to change the world around us. It is a vital part of any democracy, and equips ordinary people with knowledge about our democracy and our Constitution ... We come to understand our role and responsibility as active citizens.
