Why is this year of Jesus' ministry called "Ministry of Opposition?"Scribes and chief priests from Jerusalem began to oppose Jesus because He told them they were hypocrites. Jesus began at this time to oppose sin and unrighteousness. The disciples opposed Him because they wouldn't believe that He would have to die. Jesus began to minister primarily to those who opposed Him.

    Even though, in the first years of His ministry, Jesus didn't seem to face much opposition, the opposition came strong from the religious people. Scribes and chief priests, also referred to as Pharisees, began to oppose Jesus because they rebuked them and told them they were actually hypocrites since they didn't seek after God but were letting people believe that they did. According to Jesus, their religion was rather empty and preventing others from following the real Truth.
