The geography of the Middle Colonies comprised a large variety coasts, rocky soils, huge plains, and some mountains. Although the weather had some similar features as the one of New England, summers were warmer and winters were coolest.

As for economy, the vast and fertile land made the region a prosperous territory for agricultural activities. A large amount of crops like grains were harvested in the four colonies. Moreover, the region was a target destination for many foreign settlers including large groups of English, Germans, Dutch, and French. The variety of immigrants in the territory also represented a wide range of different business. Some of them built iron industries, while others achieved success through textile and fabric industries. What is more, cities such as Philadelphia and New York City reflected the economic dynamism of the region.
