What did the US have to do with the rise of the Khmer Rouge? Why did the Khmer Rouge want to kill everyone with any level of education after they took power?

    1. The United States had to isolate, sanction, and force the Khmer Rouge to crumble.

    Explanation:

    The Khmer Rouge, led by Pohl Pot, was a militaristic and political organization with communist ideals. It took over the country of Cambodia, and in order to achieve its goals it was not choosing means, which often resulted in brutal use of violence.

    The United States were not fond of the Khmer Rouge, as they didn't wanted spreading of the communist ideology, sot hey were quick to react. Unlike Vietnam were they intervened with their military forces, for Cambodia they used other measures. The country was isolated so that it can not not exports of free movement of people and technology. Also, sanctions of all sorts were imposed so that the Khmer Rouge collapses economically.

    The Khmer Rouge was brutal toward lot of people in Cambodia. Initially they started off with a genocide of the minority groups, and tens of thousands of people ended up dead. That didn't stopped there though, and soon the Khmer Rouge turned toward its own people, the Cambodians.

    Taken in account what kind of policies and ideology the Khmer Rouge had, people that had any education were not tolerated as they were the ones that would have raised their voices against them. In order to prevent problems from the intellectuals, the Khmer Rouge systematically started to murder the people that had education, resulting in mass murdering of innocent people all over the country.
