    Top 100 people major political, economic, legal, educational, cultural, scientific and civic institutions. These people control half of the nation's industrial, communication, transportation, and banking assets, and two thirds of all insurance assets. Also, they direct about 40% of the resources of private foundations and 50% of university endowments. And less than 250 people hold the most influential posts in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the federal government. And 200 men/women run the major 3 television networks and most of the national newspaper chains.

    According to sociologist Wright Mills, who wrtote book The Power Elite in 1956, there is six groups: presidents of the most important companies, landowners, military officers, U. S. federal government, media personalities and notable local families.
