    There were many reasons that caused the Peloponnesian War. Among others, Sparta feared so much the growing powers of Athens and its influence on other territories. Another cause was Athens decision to ley besiege Thrace, an Sparta's ally. Another reason was that Athens banned trade with Megara, that was a member of the Peloponnese League and ally of Sparta.
