    In general, the regions at higher elevations tend to have colder climates than the regions in the lower elevations. This rule though mostly applies for regions that are at the same or similar latitude, as the climate differs from one latitude to another.

    It is a natural rule that the temperature drops down with the higher elevation. The drop of temperature can very from place to place, but in general it tends to be a drop of 6 to 9.8 °C on every 1,000 meters, or between 0.6 and 0.98 °C per 100 meters.

    We can see and experience these changes everywhere on the planet where we have a lowland and a mountain next to each other. If we start from the lowland and we move up towards the peak of the mountain we will notice that the temperature is constantly dropping little by little as we are getting higher.
