What term is defined as the tendency of some members of a population to be better able to survive and reproduce and pass on their characteristics?

    This is adaptation.

    It includes all changes in psychology and physiology of the unit that is adapting and it is usually carried on to the progeny through sexual reproduction. Simply put, the unit adapts to the environment.
