    Explanation:

    Selective Optimization Compensation is the theory proposed by Paul Baltes. Baltes modeled this theory for successful aging, well being and improved health in older adults.

    There are three stages in this:

    Selection Optimization Compensation

    The stage that is concerned with the reduction in capacity and functioning is the first stage i. e., "Selection".

    According to this stage, when a person grows older some parts become less active or weak. For example, loss of eyesight. So, in this stage that older adults would be required to stop activities that will put more strain on his eyesight such as reading, watching TV. And engage in other activities which he is still able to do.
