I was forced to get married.

    Explanation:

Societal pressure are expectations put upon somebody that affect their way of behavior. The expectation are usually tied to a community one lives in, their employment situation or their religion.

I'm not against marriage but I wanted to live with my girlfriend without being married to her. I preferred it that way because I felt less trapped and I really did not see any sense in getting married as I believe it's only papers in the end. However, after we moved to a affluent neighborhood, I noticed that my neighbors there did not approve of our living situation. They thought it was not a good example for their children and they did not see the relationship as a long term one. I got annoyed that they did not take my girlfriend seriously because she was not officially my wife.

So in the end, I gave in to the social pressure (all for the quiet life) and we got married.
