When compared to canada or japan, the u. s. is unusual in that it has:

    I believe the answer is: B. more banks than either japan or canada.

    United states have way more banks compared to japan simply because the difference in population and size.

    If compared to Canada on the other hand, it's because Canada created a banking system that required more government involvement that limit the chance from private sectors to come in.
