A physical map show the physical feature of a area. A political map shows the state boundary lines of a area. They both are maps and both have boundaries.

Physical maps - often include much of the same data found on a political map, but their primary purpose is to show landforms like deserts, mountains and plains.

political map - Political maps are designed to show governmental boundaries of countries, states, and counties, the location of major cities, and they usually include significant bodies of water.

similarites - My thinking is that physical and political maps both have labels, labeling the cities, countries, or important areas.
