    According to U. S census bureau, the minority groups in Texas made up around 55.2 % of the population, (non-Hispanic whites is only around 44.8%) of the population.

    This number is influenced by Texas' Geographical location. This state has the closest proximity to the countries in southern America which has pre-dominantly Hispanic population. So when they wants to come into united States, Texas often become one of the main destination.
