    The north made advancements in commercialization and manufacturing on a mass scale. also they had many knew machines that allowed people to farm twice as fast as someone could by hand.

    The North had a commercial and manufacturing economy. Industries flourished and its factories manufactured a lot of goods. For example, the North produced 32 times more firearms than the South. The North produced 3,200 firearms to every 100 produced in the South. Less than half of the Northern population was still engaged in agriculture by 1860 while more than four-fifth in the South.
