How did a Civil War between the Union and the Confederate States begin? In your own words.

    Both sides were debated about slavery in the US. In the Union side, they were against the slavery. Other side, Confederate, they were supporting the slavery. Both sides in one nation had been split up into two. The US government refused to recognize the southern states' new government - Confederate. The Confederate started the war when they fired at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861.
