Broken and divided in most centuries
Explanation:
When the British set up the opium trade this shook the Chinese Nations and divided them. but even before then they had civil wars over philosophy and ethical questions. so when I mean broken, I really mean broken and dishearted about the fact that the Americans and Western powers where taking their population.
