To investigate whether or not an infant understood the meanings of words she did not yet understand, a researcher showed the infant pairs of objects on the screen and monitored her eye-gaze as one of the objects was labeled.

    This method is called Intermodal preferntial looking paradigm.

    Explanation:

    This method was born from linguists that wanted to investigate the adquisition of lenguage in infants that haven't totally developed language. This method consists in visual recongnition of the name of the objetct.

    The testing includes putting to objects for the infant to visualice, and then naming one of them. The recongnition would be consider, where the eye-gaze go.
