    semantic noise

    Explanation:

Semantic noise is the disturbance in the communication transmission or messages which interferes with interpretation in the message which is likely due to the ambiguity in the words, or in sentences or the symbols used in transmission of the messages.

In the context, when a supervisor asks an employee to write a memo "as soon as possible", the employee writes the memo after finishing an important project that she was working on. The employee believes that the she has done the supervisors work very soon as was possible for her but to the supervisor the employee was late and so he was angry.

There is a disturbance in the communication known as the semantic noise disturbance where the listener derives a different meaning or conclusion from the message but it means same thing.
