When Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933. he immediately began to re-arm Germany, a blatant violation of the disarmament clauses of the Treaty of Versaillies. What was the reason for these clauses when the treaty was written in 1919?

    The Treaty of Versailles included the "disarmament clauses" to ensure the disarming (weakness) of the German military as an acceptance of their WWI responsibility for losses and damages and acceptance of German guilt.
