    Question: What is the role of the hippocampus in instrumental conditioning?

    Methods: Three experiments on rats with injury to their hippocampus where conducted. These experiments assessed the role of the hippocampus in instrumental learning.

    Results: The results showed that in instrumental conditioning, injury of the hippocampus selectively damage the rats ability to decern the relationship between action and its consequences.

    Conclusion: The hippocampus plays a role in instrumental conditioning.
