The Louisiana Purchase extended into vast swathes of land in the United States, as well as into Canada. It is important to note that the Louisiana Purchase was land bought by the United States from France, which had previously had control over this region. The states were: Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, New Mexico, Texas, Wyoming, Colorado and Louisiana. This does not mean all the parts of the state, but included some parts of each state. The two Canadian provinces it expanded to were Alberta and Saskatchewan.
