    She is credited for her work on the misinformation effect of memory, the creation of false memory and eyewitness memory.

    Loftus began an experiment on reconstructive aspect of memory. She began to invest that eyewitness memory can be altered provided that the information have to be retold. Her experiment deconstructed the justifications that memories are not necessarily accurate representations. The actual events are invested using misinformation and altering the memory trace which provided surprising results. It was known as Misinformation effect. Correct information can be molded through persuasion and retelling of events with false questions.
