Johnson is able to lighten the mood and keep the audience engaged. Whenever he mentions a television show by name, like Survivor, anyone who has seen the program will instantly connect with him, and be much more likely to stay engaged later on. This lets the audience relate with him, which keeps their attention for longer. He also allows the reader to laugh a bit by keeping it humorous at times when he says a sarcastic remark. He also defines words to make sure that the less educated side can understand and keep up with him. With these techniques, Johnson is able to entertain his readers, while also educating them on his topic of television making audiences smarter
