What were the economic differences between the three regions of the country after the war of 1812?

    The southern states economy depended upon mass agricultural output (ie. they sold cash crops like cotton and certain types of rice, harvested by slaves) The North eastern states were largely industrial based, mostly textile or other small and simple products. The Western states (now the Midwest) were the breadbasket of the US, growing crops like corn and wheat and raising livestock.
