Nicole's parents are often inconsistent in terms of what they say and their behaviors. for example, they often tell nicole how important it is to be polite, but they are not very polite themselves when it comes to letting other people off airplanes before them or giving up seats in public buses. how would you expect this contradiction to impact nicole's behavior

This could make Nicole feel angry seeing that her parents are acting in a hypocritical way, she may try doing the opposite of what they say just because she dislikes how they are enforcing that part even though they don't do it themselves, because often actions speak louder than words and if she sees her parents acting in that manner it is likely that she would do the same.
