Whats the difference between sales promotion and advertising. Provide examples.

    Answer: Advertising is a long term tool while sales promotion is a short term tool.

    Explanation: In simple words, advertising refers to expressing the qualities of the product to the customers in relation to the competitors. Whereas sales promotion refers to the promotion refers to the attempt of increasing the awareness of the product with the objective of increasing sales.

    Thus, advertising provides long term benefits while sales promotion gives advantage in current situation.

    Sponsoring events and tv advertisements are examples of advertisements whereas coupons, discounts are the examples of sales promotion.
