Athens under Pericles bloomed to put it mildly. He was a very capable individual which is responsible for the many great things we usually think about when we're talking about the Greeks and especially about the Greeks during the Golden age.
Pericles was responsible for many things among which was the construction of new and beautiful structures which are still visible today, he also expanded the notion of democracy a lot.
