Ever since she started middle school, Jordan has been contradicting everything her parents say, slamming her door, and being difficult. Her parents are at their wit's end. How should they address the situation

    Conflict can happen when family members have different views or beliefs, misunderstanding or when someone in the family jumps into a wrong conclusion. It is normal to disagree from time to time and occasionally conflict is a part of family life. If issues of conflict are not resolved peacefully it can lead to argument and resentment.

    However they can provide opportunity for learning and improving relationships. There are certain benefits of conflict which include;

    Awareness of conflict can increase an individual's motivation to do well Members of the family get to understand each other's likes and dislikes it increases awareness of problems that need to be solved Disagreement often causes a decision to be thought through more carefully minor conflicts can be used to defuse potentially large ones
