What were the strengths and limitations of the south's economy and social structure?

    Limitations. - The south had just 9 million people including 3.5 million slaves. The south didn't have a great industrial capacity.

    Strenghts. - The south had an army of equal in size to the north during the first year of war. The south could produce all the food it needed. The south had the advantage of morale because it was fighting to maintain its way of life.
