    roles, a set of norms that defines how people in a given social position ought to act

    Explanation:

    When a certain individual has a pre-determined role in society, that individual will have to face the burden of expectation from other people around him/her. This expectation will influence their attitudes even though it may contradict what they truly want in their life.

    Example of this would be when a girl that born in a religious traditional family abandon her dreams to pursue her doctoral degree in order to get married and be a housewife.
