A tax is extra money you must pay when you buy things and you have to pay a tax for electricity and things like that every month. The tax goes to the government which is used for fixing roads and stuff similar to that.

A tex is something that has been used by governments for centuries, which takes money away from individual citizens in order to fund public programs, such as creating roads, providing clean water, etc.
