One reason American police departments have been making concerted efforts to attract minority officers is to dispel minority views of police departments as biased or bigoted. Another reason is to improve police performance. What is most directly related to the latter reason?

Minority Officers can improve police performance in a variety of ways. Seeing as Police are here to protect and serve, that is their main objective but barriers can arise that prevent them from doing so such as language and culture. Minority officers on the other hand can easily bypass these barriers since they are part of these cultures and are able to interact and better communicate with the people of these cultures, thus improving police performance and community relations.
