Although it is called long march but there were series of marches in which the communist armies stuck in South escaped in the west and north. Almost 100,000 soldiers escaped the encirclement.

The communists covered more than 12400 km in a year and less than ten percent people were able to finish it. The communists trekked over 6000 miles for over 370 days.
