    The mandate mechanism was a middle ground between dependence and independence of the colonies. The Mandate System was created by the League of Nations at the end of World War I. It was a way found to allow victorious powers to be in charge of enemy colonies until the natives from these colonies were capable of governing the colonies themselves.
