Imagine that you are participating in a social psychology study together with your best friend. You both are asked to watch a videotape of a woman who claims to like beer and classical music. Before you watched the video, you were told that the woman was a librarian and your friend was told that she was a waitress. After watching the video, you were asked to report what you remembered about the woman. You clearly remember she liked classical music. However, your friend clearly remembered she liked beer. What does this study illustrate?

Answer:It is the role of schemas in shaping our memory

    Explanation:

We are most likely to remember things that align with our schemas as we reject those that do not align with our own schemas.

Schemas refer to our encoding or encoded information and the information that we encode and store in our long term memory are likely to be those things that we value in life or like.

You are most likely to remember something that was already encoded and stored in your long term memory if it corresponds with what you are being asked at that particular moment.

These results above may mean that one of these people already likes classical music and the other likes beer prior to even coming to this study.
