The League of Nations responded to Japan's invasion of Manchuria by establishing the Lytton Commission to make findings about the Japanese invasion of Manchuria. The report put the blame on both the Chinese nationalism and to the Japanese aggression.

The League responded to the invasion on Abyssinia by banning weapon sales and putting sanctions on rubber and metal.
