Did the British capture independence hall during the revolutionary war?

    Yes they did but it was called the Pennsylvania State House at the time and was used as the capitol building for a sitting Congress. The building was captured along with the city of Philadelphia, part of it was used as a hospital and to hold American officers as prisoners
