    Explanation:

    The two sides of China's civil war were the Kuomintang (KMT) - led government of the Republic of China (ROC) and the (CPC) Communist Party of China, The war was fought between the year 1927 and 1949.

    The war was fought in phases, The first phase was between the year 1927 to 1937, The KMT-CPC Alliance broke down during the Northern Expeditionnand this leads to the Nationalists dominating most of China.

    The Second phase was in the year 1937 to 1945, The Second United Front fought the Japanese from taking control of China with eventual assist from the Allies of World War II. The civil war commenced with the defeat of the Japanese, and the CPC were able to dominate in the final phase of the war from 1945-1949.

    Some of the leaders were Feng Yuxiang, Yan Xishan and Wang Jingwei and they are responsible for launching the war.
