In state government, who is responsible for electing the governor?

    The people of a particular state elect the Governor for that state.

    This is widely accomplished using a popular vote system wherein the candidate who gets the most votes wins. Some states, led by Maine, are working to incorporate Ranked Choice Voting for Governors, wherein runoffs would be instantly tabulated until a candidate makes it over 50%.
