What were the main features of the political and military organization of the Hellenistic kingdoms, and how did the new political systems differ from those of the Greek city-states?

    Answer: The main features are

    1. Democracies, also monarchy in some parts.

    2. Greeks and Macedonians formed ruling class

    3. Non-Greeks were unable to hold a lead role

    4. military was meant to maintain order

    5. Tried to recreate polis

    Their differences are

    1. Monarchy had developed, contrary to democracy.

    2. Anyone could hold position in original city states, contrary to non-Greeks being unable to.

    3. Millitary was used to conquer v. maintain order

    Social Developments: women were able to participate in economics, they could manage slaves, sell property and make loans.
