Why did widespread automobile ownership lead to the growth of the suburbs

    Due to the emergence of the automobiles, people now found it easier to travel from one place to another. There were also other modes of transportations such as trains and trolley cars. Changes in land zoning and the improvements brought about economic prosperity brought about the desire for people to move out of the city to more tranquil area where they can live. This started the creation of the suburbs.
