Monosomy may unmask recesive lethals that are tolerated in heterozygotes carrying the wild type allele. Monosomy is when a cell has one chromosome less then a normal number. Monosomy of autosomal chromosomes rarely occur in live born patients. The example of monosomy of sex chromosome is Turner syndrome.
