    Homosexutality was removed from the dsm system as a psychological disorder in 1973 because it was no longer seen as a sociopathic personality disturbance (which it was a classified as in 1952) after several APA committees and deliberative bodies then reviewed and accepted the view that homosexuality was not a mental disorder.
