Jane is seeking alternatives to parenthood following her unplanned pregnancy. The clinic she visited asked her to participate in a survey. Jane agreed and signed a consent form stating she fully understood the research methods being used. The researchers noticed that Jane appeared nervous and uncertain after signing the form. They should:

a. Continue on with the survey, since she signed the form.

b. Question Jane concerning whether she fully understands the study and remind her that she can withdraw at any time and still receive services from the clinic without penalty.

c. Remind themselves that Jane can make her own decisions and it is her call whether she completes the survey or not.

d. Encourage Jane to call a friend or family member who may be better able to understand the contents of the study and ask them to explain it.

Answer:b. Question Jane concerning whether she fully understands the study and remind her that she can withdraw at any time and still receive services from the clinic without penalty.

    Explanation:

It is always good to assure the participants that their participation in a survey is not forced so that what ever opinions they give they don't feel like they are forced to do so but the client should know it is at their own will without being coerced to do so.
